Creating the Perfect Wall-Mounted Shop Vac
I’ve been perfecting the shop built dust collector over the years, starting with a DIY cyclone dust collector built nearly 8 years ago. While it’s still running strong and remains my most-used tool, I ran into an issue: space. My workshop is small, and the shop vac was always in the way, taking up valuable floor space.
A few years ago, I designed a mini cyclone for my table saw’s overarm dust collector. It worked wonders but still wasn’t quite right for my entire shop. I needed a new solution that was quiet, mounted on the wall, and could cover all the corners of my workspace without a lot of maintenance.
Enter the Stealth Sweeper—my new, wall-mounted dust collector. It features a large industrial air filter, remote activation, and operates at a peaceful 70 dB, meaning I don’t even need ear protection! Plus, emptying it is a breeze, requiring only opening up a clean out port and letting my large 2hp dust collector suck it clean.

This build is far more than a woodworking project. This project includes general woodworking tools and skills, but also pulls in my newly developing CNC machining skills as well as 3D printing to solve various design challenges. I really like how this project pulls all these together to create an amazing machine that I can use for years to come. There's lots of details to check out on this build so be sure to watch the build video below!
